STOPTOBER IS COMING…

The month we all have been waiting for.

Stoptober is a 28-day long event in which participants are encouraged to stop smoking. Public Health England shaped the annual campaign and continues to fund it.

BUT WHEN DID IT START?

The first Stoptober campaign was launched in 2012 and it was definitely an outstanding success with the power of social media. There is just so much power and energy because everyone standing together to put in their part to help someone quit smoking.

A little help and encouragement really help through this journey and this is what these 28-days are all about.

HOW IT WORKS?

The idea was that if a person doesn’t smoke at all for 28-days, he/she is five-time more likely to completely quit smoking and this has been planned based on evidence.

Most people have this strong belief that smoking is nearly impossible to quit. The success of Stoptober throughout these years is evidence that it is possible with the help of social media, phone apps and motivation!

These cigarette butts take around 18 MONTHS TO 10 YEARS TO DECOMPOSE! Which means that the cigarette filters are full of tar, nicotine, and other toxins that can get soaked into the ground and affect every organism that comes into contact with them.

Second-hand smoke is also extremely harmful not just for another human but for any living being that comes in contact with it. It affects the life of the next person too. Read here to know more about this.
